– by Mary May Larmoyeux – “Control –Z,” that’s a keyboard shortcut used to undo the last action. And wouldn’t it be nice if we had an “undo” button in life, a “Control –Z” that would let us start over?
One that we could press to pull back those misspoken words after they come pouring from our mouths. One that we could hit to rewind those actions we quickly regret. One that would offer us a new life.
How to have a new life
We are told in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV) how to have a new life: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” And the Bible paraphrase The Message, puts it this way: “… Anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it!”
But what does it look like when someone turns their back on their old ways and trusts their eternal future to Jesus Christ? My dear friend Connie told her Facebook friends what happened when she did this very thing. She has allowed me to share her post with you:
So we stumble around in life, always wondering, what’s the point? Why do I bother? Who really cares? We feel sad, alone, depressed, anxious. We cry out begging for help. Someone just please listen, make the pain go away, make me feel better. And while doing all of this in our busy lives we are pushing the one who can make it all better away.
Jesus is whispering
STOP!!!! BE QUIET!!!! LISTEN!!!! Jesus is whispering, I can help. I can make it better. I love you, please give Me a chance. I will make you powerful. I will take your pain. All you have to do is ask and believe in me.
Why do we make it so hard???
Life can be so easy if we just let Jesus lead us. I was one who ignored the whispers. I pushed away; I was miserable even when I thought I was happy. Then I heard the whispers and gave it to Jesus and now He has set me free. Oh, how I love Him. Oh, how easy it was. Oh, how I want you to feel what I have, just give Him a try. I dare you.
On Easter Sunday we will be celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Although He has defeated sin and offers us all a new life, He won’t force it on us.
It’s up to us to “hit Control-Z.”
