– by Mary May Larmoyeux – As a young man, Josh McDowell believed that Christianity was worthless. Attempting to disprove it, he spent more than seven hundred hours investigating the claims of Jesus. But instead of discounting Christ he found overwhelming evidence for the Resurrection.
“I was unable to explain away the fact that the Resurrection was a real event in history,” says Josh McDowell in his book More Than a Carpenter.
We know the difference that Christ has made in Josh’s life because he’s written about it. But if you are a Christian, do your loved ones know why Easter matters to you? Do they know the difference Jesus Christ makes in your everyday life?
Soon we will celebrate Easter and remember the resurrection of Jesus more than 2000 years ago. For followers of Christ, this is a great time to tell our children and grandchildren why we believe in Jesus. We could share our faith journey over the Easter meal or jot it down on a special card. And we could tell them how our faith has helped us walk by faith and not by sight or feelings.
We may also want to go see the new movie, Case for Christ. It’s the true story of Lee Strobel and his investigative quest to discredit the claims of Christianity. This would be a wonderful movie for anyone wondering about the existence of God … and the role He might play in their lives.
Is Easter more than another Sunday? Why does Easter matter to you?
