LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! (Psalm 8:9)
Do you recycle? I started doing this decades ago because of a sister’s encouragement. At that time we had to take our recycling to huge bins behind a neighborhood grocery store. There was no curb-service recycling pick-up in those days.
Last week I was reminded of the importance of teaching the next generation to take care of the beautiful earth that God has given us. While Jim and I were visiting Fairfield Bay, we made a trip to the HIPPE Recycling and Education Center. We learned that it was just selected by the Arkansas Recycling Coalition (ARC) to receive the state of Arkansas 2014 award for the recycling education program of the year! Forty volunteers make this great facility possible.
At this center, area students and Scouts learn about the 3Rs: Reduce waste, Reuse items, Recycle what you can’t reuse. Kids and adults enjoy the education garden that not only has paths made from crushed glass, but also a solar panel, watering pump, and more.
Do your kids or grandkids help you gather and sort things to recycle? How do you encourage them to take care of the beautiful world God has given us?
